Our Story
East India Trading Co. is the vision of owner, Ronnie Singh. Since growing up in India, Ronnie has had a passion for taking the traditional recipes and flavours of his childhood – the very fabric of his youth – and finding a way to share these great memories with Australia… but how?
In 2016, the question was answered and the dream realised – Ronnie got some hot new wheels and the East India Trading Company Food Truck opened its doors.
The East India Trading Co. food truck started popping up in its native Ballarat and across Victoria at events across the state. With a menu of delicious Indian dishes, the East India Trading Co. wasted no time in developing a reputation for authentic Indian cuisine and a traditional flavour experience of India, from the heart of Western Victoria.
And we haven’t looked back since.

We continue to deliver an excellent customer experience whether it’s in our regular weekly service in Ballarat, on the road at event appearances, catering private parties or at guest chef nights at local restaurants like Red Door in Buninyong or our fantastic Plate Up night at The Forge in Ballarat.
We’ve recently partnered up with Delivr to bring tasty cuisine straight to your door (perfect for those cold Ballarat evenings) and have forged a terrific reputation for a tailored catering experience for private parties and events.
And East India Trading Co. is now stocked in a growing line of retailers with our new Ready-Eats range – the same great recipes prepared in a ready to go meal in your fridge. Perfect for when you can come to use. just heat and eat. We are also known for our Foreign-Twenty pies, Indian flavours in a tasty, Australian spin.
Ronnie and the team still have the same passion of sharing his love of authentic Indian food, and continued belief that it is never just about the food, it’s the whole experience. We take pride in our friendly service as much as our quality food, and love nothing more than seeing our customers come back again and again.

DHABA - OUR INSPIRATION
In India, Dhaba is the tradition of the roadside eatery, harking back to when major roads were first built to link the cities of India, with weary travellers needing to refuel more than just their transport. Highways in India are dotted with these roadside restaurants and local cook-ups serving traditional cuisine and recipes handed down from generation to generation.
Growing up in India, Dhaba was a cultural favourite, providing good food to travelling locals and passing visitors, offering them a taste of the region. This tradition has played a big part in influencing the East India Food Co. and what we’re all about.
To us Dhaba means fresh and wholesome food made with local produce, using authentic flavours in the true spirit and heart of home cooking, made fresh right in front of you.
